New smart card will be ready within a month – Kafui Semevor

The Deputy Director in charge of Driver Training, Testing and Licensing at the Drivers Vehicles Licensing Authority (DVLA), Mr. Kafui Semevor has underscored that those who will apply for the new smart card will have them ready within a month.

He was interacting with Starr FM on Thursday, 26th, October, 2017 when he made this known.

According to him, ”The license will be ready between two to four weeks adding that it can be obtained through two mediums; the normal and premium services.”

The Deputy Director of DVLA added that, in the new regime, holders of the card will have to pay for the card..With the smartCard system, drivers will have to pay an additional GH¢91 to service rendered.

When asked about the importance of the new card, Mr. Semevor said that, the new smartCard system has improved security and Real Time verification of data stating that the system producing the cards have security features as well as the cards given to drivers.

The DVLA on Tuesday, 24th, October, 2017 rolled out a new smart card drivers’ license to curb the fake drivers’ license out of the system.
