Schools appeal for financial assistance

Ajumako (C/R) July 25 GNA – The Ajumako -Enyan Essiam District Directorate of Education on Friday appealed to the District Assembly and other stakeholders to assist it financially to participate in the Basic Schools Under-15 Inter District Sports Festival scheduled for Agona Swedru from August 8 -14.

Mr Peter Drofenu, the District Director of Education who made the appeal at the closing session of a weeklong District Inter Zonal sports festival at Ajumako said the coffers of the Directorate were empty and unless they got financial assistance, they would not be able to send a team to represent the District at the festival.

Mr Drofenu appealed to Physical Education Organisers in the District to advice and encourage parents to allow their children to join the District team when they are selected for the festival.

The Ajumako Zone emerged the overall champions of the Festival by winning the athletics and soccer events.

Seven zones participated in the District zonal festival with participants competing in soccer, athletics, table tennis and volleyball.
