Fire guts Barclays Bank ATM at Airport Roundabout

The Barclays bank Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) sited at Airport Roundabout in Kumasi Metropolis has been gutted by fire.

The fire destroyed many gadgets supporting the operation of the ATM.

The machine which is sited close to a Total Filling Station at Airport Roundabout took the timely intervention of the Police Service and the Fire Service to quench the raging inferno from causing severe damages.

Speaking to Otec FM’s Kwaku Anane Jr who visited the scene, ADO 1 Majisi Abedinago of Manhyia Fire Service who led the delegation to put off the fire said investigations are conducting to come out with the actual cause of the fire outbreak.

“When we came the fire was in progress but we were managed to put off the fire and we started the investigations, basically, we are almost done with the investigations just that we want to do one or two works on it to be sure on the cause of the fire,” he said.

He added that they going to collaborate with the bank, Fire Service and the police to ensure that ATM is always safe.

“Actually there is going to be a sort of collaboration with the bank and if possible the police Service and fire service to conduct exhibition to ensure that all ATM are always safe,” he assured.

“It could have been worse if the fire does not detect earlier so is better we do something,” he added.

He indicated that they were able to save more properties today but can’t be certain of the future if it repeats.

However, according to primary investigations done by Kwaku Anane Jr indicated that there was an electrical fault caused the fire outbreak.

Notwithstanding, fear and panic rocked residents in the area as some fancied what happened at Accra atomic junction fortnight ago could happen.
