Accra, July 21, GNA- Radio presenters have resolved to treat phone-ins with extreme caution in order to promote national cohesion. They would also not entertain foul language, derogatory remarks and obscenity on their stations, according to a communiqu=E9 issued at the end of a three-day workshop for radio programme producers and presenters at Atimpoku from July 16-18.
A statement signed in Accra on Tuesday by Mr George Mac Badji, Executive Secretary of the National Media Commission (NMC), said the Atimpoku Communiqu=E9 urged radio presenters to present programmes that would promote peace and national cohesion.
The communiqu=E9 urged journalists to desist from taking entrenched positions and be “very circumspect” in managing the information and programmes they present.
Journalists were also reminded to be conscious of laws relating to the media, such as defamation and obscenity, while production crew were asked to be neutral and not give in to any negative pressure on the job. The communiqu=E9 also reminded journalists of the GJA Code of Ethics and the NMC’s broadcasting standards and the need to be guided by them.
