Police arrest Ghana Health Service Staff, former service personnel for forgery

Two persons including a staff of the Ghana Health Service are in the grips of the Volta regional Police command in Ho for engaging in an alleged forgery.

This follows a complaint lodged against the two, Bright Paul Yebbi, 32, and Penidas Fordjour, 33, by the outgoing Regional director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Joseph Teye-Nuertey on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.

The suspects are said to have forged the signature of the Regional director to grant release letters to some newly recruited nurses and midwives to leave the region.

Confirming the case to Ultimate News, the Volta Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nana Asomah Hineh said Paul Yebbi, who was a former service person at the Health Directorate, admitted to the offence whiles the second suspect, Penidas Fordjour, a staff of the health service was an accomplice.

DCOP Asomah Hinneh noted that suspect Yebbi admitted to issuing the release letter to some of the nurses at a fee of GHC1, 400 each.

Ultimate News’ Lambert Atsivor understands over 30 nurses and 15 midwives were released from the region through the nefarious activities of the suspects.

The Regional command is, however, making efforts to contact the nurses involved as they process the two suspects for court.
