Review GETFund policies – Proprietor

Gomoa Jukwa C/R, July 19, GNA – The Proprietor of Gomoa Jukwa Seventh-Day Adventists (SDA) Secondary School, Pastor Richard Ntriakwa has called on the Government to review the operational guidelines of the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) to cover private and mission schools.

He said the review of the policy would go a long way to help private second cycle institutions to play their part in the provision of quality education.

Pastor Ntriakwa, who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency, said the institution of the GETfund had provided under-privileged schools with infrastructure and means of transportation.

Refereeing to a 1.2 billion cedis three-story block of 27 classrooms under constructed, he said the first floor would be completed by September to accommodate form one students.

Pastor Ntrikwa suggested that the students who are studying in underprivileged schools must also benefit from the GETfund because their parents were also taxpayers.

He said the school lacked classrooms and dormitories and was facing difficulties with electricity supply.

He commended the Ghana Union Conference of the SDA church of the immense assistance offered the school and urged them to keep it up. The Proprietor announced that the Gomoa District Assembly had given 22 students of the school 400,000 cedis each as scholarship to enable them to pursue their secondary education.

Gomoa is one of the deprived district in the country.
