The family of Dr. Mark Malangko natives of Nadoli-Kaleo district has donated some learning materials to Saan Primary and Junior High School in the Nadowli-Kaleo district of the Upper West Region.
Items donated include; text books in English Language, Social Studies, Integrated Science and Mathematics amount to over GHS10,000.00.
School bags and chargeable solar lamps were also donated to the school children.
Dr Mark Malangko, head of the family stated that it is based on the fact that education is the bedrock of development that is why he has come to make such donations to the school children.
According to him, the books will go a long way to help the children to better their B.E.C.E results in the upcoming final examination.
Dr. Mark Malangko has promised to donate to other schools next year.
The Assembly member for the Saan-Sampina electoral area Hon.Francis Xavier Kambotuu in his speech commended Dr Mark for not only donating to Saan Primary and Junior High School but also thanked him for providing accommodation for teachers in the electoral area.
According to him,in 2015 when disaster hit hard on St.Augustine S.H.T School,Dr Mark and his wife supported the school with roofing materials which helped them put back the school in sharp.
Hon Francis appealed to the District Director of education to as a matter of agency get teachers posted to schools around the Saan/Sampina electoral area to assist the school children make good use of the donation made by Dr Mark, he also appealed to the District Assembly to get boreholes for schools in the Saan/Sampina electoral area.
The Hon. District Chief Executive for the Nadwoile-Kaleo Katherine T.Lankono who was the guest of honor also thank Dr Mark and is family for complementing the efforts of Government to providing text books to children to enhance their studies.
Hon Katherine encouraged parents to embrace the free senior high school policy rolled out by the Npp government to reduce burden on parents, Under the programme, first-year students who qualified to Senior High Schools will not be charged admission, library, science centre, computer laboratory, examination, and utility fees, among others.
Hon Katherine also assured the schools in the Saan/Sampina electoral area of boreholes to help them get quality water for the preparation of meals for the school children as government is taking steps to increase the coverage of the school feeding programme to cover all basic schools in the country.
The DCE admonished the school children to make friends with their books.
School children who received the books could not hide their joy as they sing songs of praises for the Hon DCE and the Family of Dr Mark Manangko
