Agona District Assembly wages war on illegal land developers

Agona Swedru (C/R), July 16, GNA- The Agona District Assembly on Thursday pulled down two illegal structures, which were built on government land earmarked for future projects.

Mr Annor Kwafo, the District Engineer who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview said the owners of the structures whose identity is now known, put up the profile about five months ago.

He said the task force of the district assembly pulled down the structures during the normal inspection of unauthorised structures. Mr Kwafo said the developers again encroached on the land and this time put up another structures to lintel level.

He said the developers were not issued with permit nor any document as to how the land was acquired.

The District Engineer warned that the assembly would not hesitate to demolish all unauthorised structures in the town.

Mr Kwafo said the demolishing exercise would continue and extended to other areas to ensure that sanity is restored in the development of the district.

He urged land developers to come to the district Assembly to apply for building permit before putting up their structures else the taskforce would pull them down.

About four month ago the assembly pulled down unauthorised buildings in certain parts of Swedru and cautioned those who were flouting the law to stop.
