Ahafo students raise funds

Goaso (B/A), July 16, GNA – The University of Cape Coast branch of Ahafo Students Union has organized a fund-raising rally at Goaso towards a smooth running of the Union.

Mr George Yaw Boakye, Asunafo District Chief Executive, addressing them, deplored the apathetic attitude of tertiary students, especially the females towards public activities and advised them to show greater interest in issues affecting their communities and districts.

He emphasized that, their involvement in the Assembly’s programmes would avail them the opportunity to become part of the solution to problems.

Alhaji Ishak Abubakar Bonsu, Asunafo District Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), noted that a nation’s prosperity largely depended on educated citizenry and called for strategies to make education not only accessible but also beneficial to society.

He urged tertiary students to be circumspect in their utterances during the electioneering campaigns to the 2004 elections, since society acknowledged them as sources of truth and wisdom.

Akwasi Joseph Crentsil, President of the Union called for the support of both old and new members to enable the executive to implement programmes designed to enhance education in Ahafo.
