NRC did a good job – Tony Aidoo

Former Deputy Minister for Defence, Dr. Tony-Aidoo, has commended the NRC for doing a ?good job.?

He acknowledged that the conduct exhibited by the Chairman of the Commission, Justice K.E. Amuah-Sekyi, and the manner in which the Commission conducted its proceedings, especially in investigating alleged human rights abuses in the past, attest to the fact that the Commission has really done a great job and must be commended.

He added that the Commission?s activities were conducted in accordance with the constitution and the aims and objectives that set up the Commission, noting that very few people would doubt its final report.

Dr. Aidoo made these observations when he gave his impression about the work of the NRC on a TV programme in Accra.

The NDC was very vocal in its opposition to the establishment of the NRC and has always maintained that the commission was biased in its handling of testimony presented before it by victims of alleged human rights violations.

Dr. Aidoo, also a former NDC Director of Research commended the Government for fulfilling its electoral promise of instituting the NRC if it won the 2000 elections.
