Troupe brings bit of Ghana to folkfest

Utah, USA — The Dzenbii African Percussion Cultural Group, from Ghana, performs at the Springville World Folkfest. The group flew to New York, then took a cross-country bus to Springville for the festival. Founded in 1977, the Ghana dance troupe has performed for such dignitaries as Queen Elizabeth II, the Duke of Edinburgh and many of Africa’s heads of state. It has toured nearly all of Africa and given select performances in the United States, Germany, South America and the United Kingdom.

John Kofi Crentsil directs the group, which performs dances from Nigeria and Ghana.

Performances at Spring Acres Arts Park, 620 S. 1350 East in Springville, run at 8 p.m. nightly through Saturday. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $3 for children 12 and under. For tickets, call 801-489-2726.
