Health Insurance scheme will ensure efficient health delivery – DCE

Hamidukrom (B/A), July 15, GNA – Mr George Yaw Boakye, Asunafo District Chief Executive, has appealed to the people to support the National Health Insurance scheme (NHIS), since it is aimed at ensuring efficient health delivery to the poor.

He said Government was committed to replace the “cash and carry” system with the Scheme, because of the high poverty level in deprived communities coupled with the escalating cost of health care. Mr Boakye who was addressing cocoa farmers at Hamidukrom, near Sankore on the NHIS, urged heads of families to take advantage of the Scheme to ensure better health care delivery.

He said 27,000 bags of fertilizer had been allocated to the District for distribution to cocoa farmers under the Cocoa Hi-tech Programme.

Nana Yaw Boateng, Kwapong District Chief Farmer, lauded the NHIS and appealed to the people to embrace it. He called on the implementers of the cocoa spraying programme to supply materials on time for the exercise to ensure increased production.
