Man fined two million cedis for causing harm

Tema, July 14, GNA – A Circuit court at Tema has sentenced Kwadwo Ebo to a fine of two million cedis or two years in jail in default. The accused who damaged the windscreen of a bus and assaulted a 30-year-old pot manufacturer for not giving him 2,000 cedis pleaded guilty to assault, causing harm and damage to property.

Inspector Adolphus Otchere told the court that on July 7 the accused demanded 2,000 cedis from Issah Ibrahim, a porter at the Cooperative lorry station at Ashaiman.

When the porter did not yield to the request, the accused became offended, picked a quarrel with him and put his fingers into the porter’s eyes, rendering him temporary blind.

Ebo attempted to hit the porter with a stick but the stick hit the windscreen of a stationery vehicle, damaging it.

In the process, Ibrahim lost 200,000 cedis tolls he had collected for that day.
