Education Director calls for greater support

Bechem (B/A), July 13, GNA – Mrs. Beatrice Adjei-Acheampong, Tano District Director of Education, has urged School Management Committees (SMCs), Parent Teacher Associations (PTAs), Unit Committees and chiefs to get actively involved in school programmes.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Bechem, she called for assistance of community leaders in the provision of proper infrastructure for early childhood schools, which was the bedrock of formal education to promote teaching and learning.

“Head teachers and headmasters must organize regular PTA meetings to address problems that face schools to promote their development,” she said.

Mrs. Adjei-Acheampong commended the Government for absorbing such schools into the public system, saying, “The idea is very laudable as all problems that faced such schools would be eliminated”.

She expressed satisfaction about the reduction in the number of school dropouts, especially among girls and attributed the change to sensitisation programmes on the importance of girl-child education. The District Director of Education appealed to teachers, parents, community leaders and pupils to redouble their efforts to improve the standard of education.
