Man remanded for defiling eight-year-old girl

Sunyani, July 13, GNA – A circuit Court at Fiapre, near Sunyani, in the Brong Ahafo Region, on Monday remanded Kofi Noyo, 36, into prison custody for allegedly defiling an eight-year-old pupil at Afrisipakrom, near Duayaw.

Noyo pleaded guilty and will re-appear on July 26.

Prosecuting, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) David Amoako, told the court, presided over by Mr John Owusu Gyamfi, that on July 3, this year, Noyo sent the girl, who was on her way to fetch water to buy cigarettes for him.

ASP Amoako said when the girl returned, the accused lured her into his room and sexually assaulted her.

The prosecutor said Mr Alex Karinu, father of the victim, detected changes in his daughter’s gait and when he questioned her, she narrated the incident.

The matter was reported to the police and the accused was arrested. A medical report indicated that the girl had been defiled.
