Sekyere spends 6.5 million cedis on disabled centre

Kumasi, (Ashanti Region) 3 Nov. ’98, The people of Sekyere, near Effiduase in Ashanti have spent 6.5 million cedis to renovate an abandoned post office to be used as a rehabilitation centre for disabled citizens. Mr Kwadwo Duah, a citizen of Sekyere, donated a sewing machine worth 155,000 cedis to the Centre. Mr Peter Owusu Kessey, assembly member for Sekyere, told a meeting of Sekyere citizens resident in Kumasi that 6.4 million cedis has also been spent on the erection of 120 electric poles for the town’s electrification project. The meeting was aimed at discussing current developments in the town and the establishment of a Sekyere Development Company. Mr Kessey said the community spent 3.2 million cedis to construct a staff bungalow for the Cocoa Services Division which donated building materials. He appealed to the Department of Feeder Roads and the Sekyere East District Assembly to re-construct the 6.5-kilometre road from Oyoko to Sekyere.
