Samsung partners Voluntary Association of Ghana in ICT development

Korean giants-Samsung in league with Betterworld-an NGO based in Korea have partnered the Voluntary Association of Ghana (VOLU) in providing computer Literacy instructions and Technical assistance to project beneficiaries-Bishop Girls Primary and Junior high school in Accra under the theme “ICT for all-promoting foreign and local direct investment drive in ICT”.

Korean giants-Samsung in league with Betterworld-an NGO based in Korea has partnered the Voluntary Association of Ghana (VOLU) in providing computer Literacy instructions and Technical assistance to project beneficiaries-Bishop Girls Primary and Junior high school in Accra under the theme “ICT for all-promoting foreign and local direct investment drive in ICT”.

The school is to benefit from the renovation of an ICT hall/lab with 30 desktop computers,2 small 3-in-1 Printers,30 computer tables,30 chairs,2 video screens,2 video projectors, computer consumables or accessories, office automation consumables;12 port Cisco switch and 1 Cisco router 5900 series.

The prime objective of the project was to foster opportunities for Samsung PLC employees from South Korea to engage in intercultural learning, -providing Computer Literacy instructions to Ghanaian schools in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service.

The project which was spearheaded by the Executives of the Voluntary Association-VOLU has sparked commendations from members and the international partners.

Speaking to the vice chairman of VOLU-MOZATO, he was of the view that such projects were significant in bringing back the lost spirit in the Association and again “it is a platform of restoring the past glories of voluntarism in the country”-he added.

The Vice-chairman was of ample praise to the Samsung/Betterworld for demonstrating such committed stance in bridging the intercultural link between the two countries through voluntarism.

The project is expected to last for a week after which the Koreans will leave the country.

In a related development, the much anticipated Biennial National Congress-BNC of the Ghana Voluntary Association will be held at Kordiabe, a township around Accra from the 27th September-29th September 2017. The Congress is expected to elect new officers to man the Association.The last congress was held at the same venue in 2013.

Amongst the notable positions to be contested for are; the President, Vice President, Secretary-General, Treasurer, and other appointed positions by Congress.
