Amansie West sets up fund to support education development

The Amansie West District Assembly has set up an Endowment Fund to support the development of education in the area.

It would be used to assist academically brilliant students from poor homes to pursue tertiary education and supply schools with vital teaching and learning materials to complement the government’s effort.

Mr. William Bediako Asante, the District Chief Executive (DCE), said the modalities for selection and disbursement was ready.

This followed wider consultations held by an 11-member committee chaired by Dr. Kofi Afoakwa, a former Constituency Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The DCE announced this at a durbar held at Manso-Nkwanta, which brought together chiefs, assembly members and people from across the district to discuss ways of moving the area’s education forward.

He invited everybody, mining companies and businesses to contribute to the fund to help achieve the intended outcomes.

Mr. Asante said education was the best investment they could think of and asked that they all put their shoulders to the wheel.

He underlined the determination of the assembly to provide the opportunity for the young people in the district to live their academic dreams.
