Small-cale poultry farmers to manage their business

Dormaa-Ahenkro (Brong Ahafo) 28 Oct ’98

A three-day seminar on business management organised by the Brong Ahafo regional secretariat of the Business Advisory Centre (BAC) of the National Board for Small Scale Industries for 38 poultry farmers has ended at Dormaa-Ahenkro. The seminar, sponsored by the German Development Service, was aimed at exposing the participants to basic business management to enable them to expand their businesses. Topics treated included record keeping, costing and pricing, characteristics of entrepreneurs, and banking procedures. Mr George Boakye-Yiadom, acting head of the Sunyani BAC, said the centre’s objective is to train small-scale industrialists on the need to expand their businesses. This, he said, would also help them to become self-employed and thereby reduce the unemployment rate in the country. Mr Boakye-Yiadom stressed the need for them to honour their tax obligations and urged them to observe environmental cleanliness at their workplaces.
