Latter Day Saints donates wheel chairs to the disabled

Takoradi, July 7, GNA – The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints on Wednesday presented wheel chairs to 70 disabled persons in Takoradi.

Speaking at the function, Mr Kweku Peprah Ghartey, Director of Public Affairs of the Church, said the donation forms part of the social responsibility programme of the Church.

He said the Church is part of the society and has the responsibility of helping to improve society and meet the needs of the disabled and the disadvantaged.

Mr Ghartey said the Church would donate 40 more wheel chairs to The Ghana Society of the Disabled for distribution to its members who cannot walk.

He said The Latter Day Charity, headquartered in Salt City in the United States, donated the wheel chairs.

Mr Freebody Acquah Mensah, President of Takoradi Stake of the Church who made the presentation, said Jesus Christ devoted considerable portion of his Ministry to helping the poor and the needy in the society.

He said the donation is therefore a response to the command of Jesus to his disciples to assist the poor and the needy in the society.
