Yoghurt seller in court for assault

Cephas Titriku, a 28 year old yoghurt seller has appeared before a Ho circuit court for allegedly slashing the arm of one Moses Adzakli, a 38 year old farmer.

Prosecuting, Inspector Richard Nyarko Hadzi, told the court presided over by Madam Priscilla Dikro that the complainants were Moses Adzakli and Vivian Atro, wife of Titriku.

He said Titriku had been abusing Atro, his first wife and had asked her to leave his house following a motorbike accident, which rendered her unserviceable.

The court heard that at about 1500 hours on August 14, 2017, Adzakli went to Atro’s house at Adaklu Tevikpo to refund an amount of GHC 25 he allegedly owed Atro.

The Prosecutor said Titriku was assaulting Atro physically when Adzakli entered the house, prompting him (Adzakli) to go to Atro’s rescue.

He said Titriku unhappy about Adzakli’s intervention, engaged him in a fight while Atro run and hid in a bush.

Inspector Hadzi said after both men were separated, Titriku went in for a cutlass from his room and inflicted a deep cut on the left shoulder of Adzakli.

He said Titriku after slashing the victim went on rampage, fetched petrol from his motorbike and set Atro’s hut together with her belongings ablaze.
