House welcomes new MP

Accra, July 7, GNA – The Speaker of Parliament, Mr Peter Ala Adjetey on Wednesday administered the Oath of Office to Mr Benjamin Kofi Ayeh, the newly elected Member of Parliament.

Mr Ayeh won a bye-election on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper Denkyira Constituency, following the death of the sitting MP, Mr Charles Omar Nyanor, in May.

Welcoming Mr Ayeh, the Speaker, who described him as the last person to become a Member of the Third Parliament of the Fourth Republic, urged him to maintain a considerable degree of regularity and punctuality.

He told the Member not to take the work of the House for granted, saying, “let the business of the House be first because this is fulltime work and not part time”.

Mr Ala Adjetey urged Mr Ayeh to study all the documents of the House to enable him to take part in proceedings and co-operate with the leaders in the House.

Both sides of the House welcomed Mr Ayeh and urged him to learn fast since that was the only way he could make meaningful contributions in the House.
