Adaklu-Waya (V/R), July 5, GNA – The Ho-East Constituency Delegates’ Congress of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) at Adaklu-Waya in the Volta Region at the weekend, was nearly marred by threats of walkouts and disagreements over the eligibility of some delegates to vote.
The fierce disagreements started with arguments on the right of a nominee for the Constituency Chairman to vote.
When tempers came down, the Congress elected a 12-member Constituency Executive and also by popular acclamation, endorsed Mr Gabriel Gbedzoh, 62, a retired Superintendent of Police as the Party’s Parliamentary candidate while Mr Freeman Honu was elected as Chairman. Mr Gbedzoh told the delegates that Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah’s ideas for development were relevant today as they were in the past. He said Osagyefo Dr Nkrumah created the path of prosperity for the country and it was only logical that in the current situation of trepidation the CPP should become the optional Government.
Mr Paul Nuwordu, Regional Youth Organiser of the CPP cautioned the Executive members not to lord it over others. Mr Elikem Kotoku, Regional Treasurer, who swore the Executive into office, cautioned members to avoid acts that would portray the Party in negative light.
