Businessman granted GHC30,000 bail

Fuseini Zakaria, a 33 year-old businessman, has appeared before the Tarkwa Circuit Court in Tarkwa for allegedly hitting his colleague’s right eye with a metal hammer.

The accused, who pleaded guilty with explanation to the charge of conspiracy to commit crime and causing harm, was granted bail in the sum of GH¢30,000.00.

The case was adjourned to October 3, 2017.

Prosecuting, Police Detective Chief Inspector Clement Amoah, told the court, presided over by Mr Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew that the complainant, John Nyarko a 27year -old mason resides at Kawerekwano, a suburb of Tarkwa.

He said on August 19, at 2230 hrs, accused and five others, who are now on the run, forced the complainant into Zakaria’s Hyundai Elantra saloon car and drove to the Golden Age School Complex area at Kawerekwano.

Chief Inspector Amoah said when they arrived, the accused picked a metal hammer from the boot of his car and hit Nyarko’s right eye.

He said after the incident, Zakaria drove his car away and later called one Kwofie on phone and asked him to take the complainant to the hospital and later paid the medical bill.

Chief Inspector Amoah said on August 23 this year the complainant made an official report to the police and he was referred to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital to seek further medical attention.

He said the accused was later arrested and he admitted the offense but was later released on bail.

Chief Inspector Amoah said information gathered by the police revealed that three weeks before the incident, a controversy ensued between the two and in the process the complainant hit Zakaria’s head with a stone, but he failed to report it to the police.
