Armed robbers robbers attack security man

The Police in the Western Region have arrested seven armed robbers who attacked a security officer whiles on duty at the Ghana Rubber Estate Limited (GREL) and robbed the company of various valuable items.

The robbers, the police said, wore masks and armed with machetes, attacked the security on duty at the company’s chemical store.

The police said the armed robbers tied the security man with a rope and managed to steal a quantity of assorted items from the store.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Olivia Adiku, who confirmed the story to the Ghana News Agency, said luck however eluded some of the robbers namely: Kwadwo Bentum, 20, Justice Adiyiah, 20, and Nicholas Nartey, 19, who were arrested at Abaase with some of the stolen items.

She said the armed robbers who confessed to the crime led the police to Tumantu where three boxes of motor spraying machines, two boxes of Wellingnton boots, eleven boxes of Agro insecticide, three machetes as well as 30 bottles of Caprofix Afro chemical were retrieved.

ASP Adiku said the suspects and exhibits have been sent to the Agona Nkwanta Police Station for further investigations.
