Non-denominational prayers held on Republic Day in Kumasi

Kumasi, July 1, GNA- A three-hour non-denominational prayers to mark Ghana’s Republic Day celebration was on Thursday held at the Jackson’s Park in Kumasi.

It was organised by the Christian churches in the Kumasi metropolis in collaboration with the Regional Co-ordinating Council (RCC), was attended by over 4,000 people.

Speaking at the function, Mr Sampson Kwaku Boafo, Ashanti Regional Minister, said peace is an essential commodity that all Ghanaians must struggle for.

He said Ghanaians must appreciate efforts by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to ensure peace in the country.

Mr Boafo said many people especially cocoa farmers are enjoying from the good policies and programmes of the government and this should encourage Ghanaians to allow the government to continue with its good work.

Right-Reverend Nuhu Ben Abubekr, Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, called on Ghanaians to remain faithful to God and continue to pray for his mercy and glory.

He stressed the need for people to refrain from negative tendencies that militate against the development of the country and rather contribute their quota to enhance progress.

Right-Reverend Daniel Yinkah-Sarfo, Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, called on Ghanaians to lead faithful and honest lives. He said there was the need for people to forgive their neighbours when they offend them, pray for one another and worship God in truth.
