We have not overstayed- Central Regional Executives of Cocoa Association

Agona Swedru, June 29, GNA- Members of the Central Regional Executive of the Cocoa-Coffee-Shea-nut Farmers Association, have denied allegations that they have overstayed in office.

Nana Kofi Agyekum, Agona Swedru District Chief Farmer and Spokesman for the Regional Executive, denied the allegations attributed to the Sunyani District Chief farmer, Mr Anthony Akore Korsah at a news conference at Swedru.

Nana Agyekum said a delegate’s conference in April 2004, re-elected all the previous executives of the Association, by popular acclamation, to a four- year term and also approved a new Constitution.

He also denied allegations that prices of agricultural inputs for cocoa production have gone up.

Nana Agyekum cautioned members of the Association against unfounded allegations that could divide their ranks. He lauded the Government’s cocoa spraying programme, which he said had led to a drastic reduction of poverty among farmers.
