Ghanaians urged to donate blood quarterly

The National Blood Service has urged Ghanaians to cultivate the habit of donating blood every four months to help save lives.

According to the service, the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital alone requires 200 units of blood daily.

Apart from this, the service is obliged to supply blood to hospitals across Ghana.

Speaking to Class News’s Jerry Akornor after a blood donation and health screening exercise by Ghana Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Programme in Accra on Friday, 8 September 2017, senior blood donor and Organiser of National Blood Service Ghana, Joyce Oppong Adu, said the appeal comes at a time Ghana is in urgent need of blood.

She also advised the public to go through regular health screening to prevent ailments from rising to unmanageable proportions.
