Ban on new registration of Licenced Chemical Shops lifted

The Pharmacy Council has lifted the ban on new registrations of new Over-the-Counter Medicine Sellers, previously known as Licenced Chemical shops, across the country.

It is unclear when the temporary ban came into effect and what necessitated it. But the statement signed by the Registrar of the Council said the temporary ban has been “lifted forthwith”.

A statement issued by the Council Wednesday consequently asked prospective applicants to apply to its regional office for to be registered.

“Prospective applicants should note that there is restriction on new applications in areas that are adequately served by existing pharmaceutical facilities,” it said.
