The Crusading Guide

“Harbour workers cry foul…Over technical adviser’s salary of 52.16 million cedis per month”, is the shocking headline of a front page story in the Crusading Guide.

The paper says workers of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), have expressed disquiet over what they describe as “an unreasonably fat salary” of the technical adviser to the Authority, Mr Klaus Riebensahm, an expatriate.

The Crusading Guide says its investigations indicate that the 1998 monthly salary of Mr Riebensahm, who was contracted by the GPHA as project co-ordinator, was about 52 million cedis, making a total whooping annual salary of 620 million cedis.

The paper quotes a senior staff of GPHA as saying that the monthly remuneration of Mr Riebensahm for this year was equivalent to the salaries of 231 workers put together. GRi
