Suhum, June 14, GNA – The Suhum Magistrate Court has remanded a 36-year-old farmer, Mohammed Wudu Tanko to prison custody for allegedly smoking Indian hemp.
The accused, whose plea was not taken, would re-appear on June 24. Prosecuting, Chief Inspector of Police, I. A. Guoah, told the Court, presided over by Lt.Col.Alex Kofi Lartey (Rtd), that on October 20,2003, the Assembly Member for Supresu electoral area, Mr E. K. Mante, suspected the accused of smoking the hemp, and confronted him.
This developed into in a fight during Mr Mante managed to seize the rest of the hemp from Tanko and made a report to the Police. He said all attempts to arrest the accused failed until on May 30, this year, when he was spotted at a drinking bar.
