Valerie Sawyerr and corrupt cronies in NDC will soon leave – Rawlings

Former President Jerry Rawlings has finally broken his silence on the content of an article written by Dr. Valerie Sawyerr, former Deputy Chief of Staff, which described him as an “agitated mosquito.”

The former chief of staff, a surrogate of former President John Mahama, in a rather unusual epistle went after the former president for his continues attacks on the NDC, and reminded him to focus his attention on the NPP government.

“JJ oooo JJ … the great Papa JJ … the one and only Junior Jesus … the great saint who never does wrong … you are still flogging a dead horse … the NDC is in Opposition in case you have not noticed, while a living raging bull is moving around with reckless abandon destroying everything it finds in its path including the assets and citizens of this nation.”

But speaking on the sidelines of a public forum at GIMPA on Wednesday, Mr. Rawlings said at the “right time” Dr. Sawyerr will receive a response from him.

He however said those who are corrupt and have used their rot to soil the party’s image are worried about their future in the party, so are doing everything they can to muddy the waters.

“NDC is at a crossroads between those with integrity and those without. Those who lack it feel threatened by those of us who have the influence of integrity and that is what is frightening them. None of all these calls against us will hold. I mean it’s false, they know it but they have to propagate it.”

Some Council of Elders members at a Tuesday meeting to discuss the Professor Kwesi Botchwey’s report used the occasion to plead with the former president not to respond to the former chief of staff.
