The seminar, under the theme: “Social Mobilisation: Key to Bridge the Developmental Gap,” would also enhance the capacity of participants to plan, organise, monitor and evaluate the ‘communication/social mobilisation’ components of health and development projects and programmes.

It is being organised by the College of Health Sciences of the University of Ghana, Legon.

Professor Kwesi Yankah, Acting Pro- Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, urged the participants to focus on various instruments and strategies for social mobilisation.

He urged development experts to modernise the traditional mode of communication, as it was the key to any meaningful development. Prof Yankah said in the modern age, relevant developmental issues should include how the technological instrument of radio could be adapted and utilized to enhance or enrich traditional communication. Prof. Isabella Kwakye, Director of School of Public Health, proposed a suitable strategy for solving behavioural-related problems within the community. 10 June 04
