Teachers’ award scheme to expand

Techiman (Brong Ahafo Region) 6 Oct. 1998 Plans are far advanced to expand the national teachers’ award scheme to cover administrative staff and other officers of the Ghana Education Service (GES).

Currently, only classroom teachers at the basic and second-cycle schools are eligible for awards under the scheme.

Mr Joseph Omari, national co-ordinator of the awards scheme said this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at the fourth “National Teachers’ Awards Day” held at Techiman on Monday.

Twenty-two teachers received various prizes worth about 70 million cedis, for their resourcefulness and dedication to duty. Vice-President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills was the special guest of honour. GRi
