Police call for calm in Aveyime after motor rider killed

The Ghana Police Service has called on the people Aveyime near Sogakope in the Volta Region to keep their heads and allow investigations into an incident that is reported to have claimed the life of a motor rider.

The death of the motor rider has resulted in damage to police property in the area.

A statement from the police headquarters says that a team of police officers has been dispatched from the Volta Region capital, Ho, to help maintain peace and order in the area.

It further assures the people of Aveyime that the officers will thoroughly investigate the incident and resolve it.

It added that the police have got their eyes on the matter and are in touch with community leaders to ensure calm is restored.

It is unclear what exactly the incident is but the police are appealing to the people to exercise restraint and allow them to do their work.
