Confusion rocks Karaga NPP over contracts

The angry youth of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Karaga in the Northern Region are accusing the District Chief Executive (DCE) and the Constituency Organizer of dividing members of the party.

On Wednesday morning, the NPP youth at Karaga stormed the district assembly and shut down the office of the DCE to register their displeasure.

The youth are accusing the DCE, Alhassan Yabdoo and the constituency organizer of hijacking contracts and engaging in acts to divide the party.

According to the youth, the DCE is awarding contracts to the party organizer, who does not recognize the authority of the Constituency Chairman.

The Constituency Research and Elections Officer told DAILY GUIDE that the action of the youth was due to the discriminatory and unfriendly attitude of the DCE.

“The youth locked up the offices of the DCE and the Constituency Organizer, because of their discriminatory and unfriendly practices and attitude.”

He alleged that the DCE has awarded contracts worth millions of cedis to the constituency organizer although there were other well-to-do contractors in the constituency.

“The DCE did not consult the constituency chairman of the party before awarding the contracts.”

DAILY GUIDE has gathered that the NPP executives in the Karaga Constituency and leaders of the party have petitioned the Northern Regional Chairman party, as well as national executives about the attitude of the DCE.
