Physically challenged asked to utilise their capabilities

Kenyasi (B/A), June 6, GNA – Mr Michael Nsiah-Agyapong, Asutifi District Chief Executive, has observed that the number of physically challenged persons begging for alms along the streets could be reduced if they were given the needed support and encouragement.

Mr Nsiah-Agyapong made the observation when he presented wheelchairs, provided by a foreign non-governmental organization through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, to 15 physically challenged persons at Kenyasi.

He urged the physically handicapped to make the best out of their situations and warned that those who would refuse to utilize their capabilities would have themselves to blame.

Mr. S.B. Nsankyire, Presiding Member of the Asutifi District Assembly, asked them not only to engage in persistent demands for solution to their peculiar problems but also to apply their inherent talents to the national development process.

He advised them not to be influenced by politicians with cheap baits.

The beneficiaries commended the government and the Assembly for the gesture and pledged to use the facility to enhance their standards of living.
