‘We appreciate implementation of mandatory towing levy’ – Methodist Bishop

The Presiding Bishop of the Kumasi Methodist Diocese, Rt. Rev. Christopher Nyarko Andam has backed government decision to implement mandatory towing levy in the country.

The initiative, which is aim at reducing accidents on roads will also help in the suppression of broken vehicles.

The move by government to curtail these occurrences on roads “is in the right direction he noted”.

Nonetheless, he advised government not to impose the implementation of the policy on Ghanaians indicating that it would be prudent for government to embark on a nationwide dialogue with various stakeholders for a wider consultation before implementing the policy.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the 2017 Annual Prophetic and Healing Convention by the Methodist Church in Kumasi said the Diocese believes that majority of the citizenry have not properly understood the proposed approach to the implementation of the policy and called for them to exercise restraint.

He said ‘’We‘re humbly appealing with the Parliament and the stakeholders to avoid presenting a policy that would seemingly be seen as an imposition on the citizenry against the will of the people’’

Rt. Rev. Andam however appealed to government to take proper measures that at the end would be beneficial to all and sundry.
