Asantehene to visit UK and US

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, leaves Ghana this weekend for private visits to the UK and US.

While in the UK, Otumfuo will attend private functions in Scotland before continuing to US to hold meetings with James Wolfensohn, the President of the World Bank and later, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. He then goes to London for a few days rest before returning to Ghana in July.

Earlier this year, Asanteman feted the World Bank President with a mini-durbar at the Manhyia Palace in Kumai during which Wolfensohn commended the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his dedication and commitment to the development and well-being of his people.

He said the world has a lot to learn from the wisdom and ingenuity of the Asantehene, who had combined traditional leadership and modernity to promote social justice, development and unity among his people.
