Four confirmed dead in a fatal accident at Nsawam

Four persons have been confirmed dead in a fatal accident that occurred Friday evening at Nsawam By-Pass stretch of the Accra -Kumasi Highway in the Eastern region.

The accident occurred when a Ford Salon car with registration number GR 5406-W ran into a parked Kia Rhino Truck with registration number -AS 2822-16.

Four out of the five passengers, onboard the Ford Salon Private Car died on the spot.The deceased include three adult females and a male. One person is in critical condition at the Nsawam government hospital. The deceased are yet to be identified by police.

It took the intervention of a joint rescue team to pull out the disfigured bodies of the deceased trapped in the mangled car.

Confirming the accident to Ultimate News, the Nsawam municipal Crime officer, ASP Kofi Sarkodie explained that, the KIA Rhino truck which was not faulty was properly parked along the shoulders of the road but the Ford Salon car which was from Accra heading towards Nkawkaw surprisingly ran into it.

Police suspect the driver of the Private car who is also died was over-speeding.

ASP Sarkodie explains, the driver of the Kia Rhino truck, identified as Seth Klu Abubakari, cannot be held liable for any offense after the preliminary investigation.

He said the Nsawam Police is, however, investigating to ascertain what accidentally triggered the driver of the saloon car to run into the truck.
