Asafutufiam Festival turns bloody

This year’s celebration of the Asafutufiami has turned bloody, ghananewsalert.com has reported.

The website reports that the event which is the 80th Asafutufiami was characterized by misunderstanding leading to the injury of two people.

According to the website, the confusion erupted between two clans namely Kabiawe Yumu and Dangmebiawe that were challenging each other for supremacy.

The website explains that according to Tradition, the Dangnebiawe is expected to take renewal of oath of allegiance to the Nene Ada, but unfortunately, Kabiawe Yumu was called to take the oath before their senior; a situation that sparked confusion.

The renewal of the oath to Nene Ada which is an important traditional practice during Asafotufiami was disrupted for close to an hour as the police and military personnel had a hectic time to bring the rioting scene under control for the process to continue.
