Asunafo South NPP youth invade and lock up NHIS office

Some youth believed to be members of the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) at Kukuom in the Asunafo South district of the Brong Ahafo region are reported to have besieged and locked up the offices of the National Health Insurance Scheme(NHIS) in the area.

The District Manager of the NHIS, Thomas Krobea Asante said staff of the Scheme have abandoned work following the incident.

Narrating the incident, Mr. Krobea Asante said the rampaging youth stormed their offices threatening the staff to vacate the premises and locking up the offices.

“They came to the District Assembly about two weeks ago, and I think they informed the DCE that they don’t want some of the workers at the District Assembly and Health Insurance so they want to come there and then lock the place. I think they had a conversation with them and they stopped. And right now that they’ve come again, next time we don’t know what will happen,” he told local newsmen.

Several of such incidents have been reported across the country.
