Don’t blame politicians for engineers’ inefficiencies – Osafo Marfo

Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo has said the country’s engineers should be blamed for the shoddy work of contractors.

The former finance minister accused State Engineers of conniving with contractors to carry out substandard jobs while the innocent politician suffers public backlash for their inefficiencies.

He made this statement at a capacity building workshop organized by the Ghana Institute of Engineers, Planners and Surveyors, Friday, July 28, 2017.

“You were trying to apportion the blame… and they put the blame on the politicians… I said well am happy everybody can analyse, who designs the roads? And they said, engineers. Who would normally specify the various address for the tender, after the contract has been awarded; who supervises the work? Engineers,” Mr. Marfo noted.

“No politician goes to supervise work; who measures work to be paid… engineers and allied professionals,” the Senior Minister indicated.
