Minister reveals plans to ban all foreign wear, suits from offices in Eastern Region

Staff of the Regional Coordinating COuncil of the Easter Region of Ghana might soon have to desist from wearing foreign clothing as the regional Minister has hinted of his plans to ban them.

Mr Eric Kwakye Darfour, the Minister of the Eastern Region made this known at the launch of the Eastern Region Trade Fair and Exhibition.

At the launch, which took place at the Jackson Park in Koforidua, Mr. Darfour stated that such a move would be in line with encouraging Ghanaians to use “Made in Ghana” goods.

He stated that, they wanted to make sure that the “Made in Ghana” culture was prevalent in the region and thus would soon see the best way to stop staff from wearing Ghanaian wear only as “Friday Wear”.

“We want to make ‘made in Ghana’ a culture in the Eastern region. Very soon, in consultation with my RCD, we will decide and take a bold and firm decision to make it compulsory for all our staff; from Monday to Friday, not the Friday wear, but Monday to Friday to put on only made in Ghana,” he said.
