But for the alertness of the Minority in Parliament as well as the thorough investigative work done by some journalists in the media, the ruling NPP government would have committed the biggest thievery on all Ghanaians by acquiring the CNTCI loan of $300m.
The National Democrat is still studying some documents on the loan, which it has in its poccession and will come out soon with startling revelations about what the NPP is keeping very close to its chest and seemingly hiding from Ghanaians.
One of the revelations which the National Democrat has already uncovered and which we can make available upon request is that 3 per cent of the $300m loan had been earmarked for the covers of the NPP and was supposed to be used for its campaign activities during the 2004 elections.
According to the so-called creditors, CNTCI, the arrangement fee for the loan, which was signed between them and the NPP government, was 1 per cent .
However, the documents made available to parliament by the NPP government through its Minister for Finance, Hon. Yaw Osafo-Maafo, indicate that the arrangement fee was 4 per cent. Meanwhile, according to our sources, the creditors have denied any knowledge about the 4 per cent saying that to the best of their knowledge, the documents they signed indicate that the arrangement fee shall be 1 per cent and not 4 per cent..
