Minister assures private broadcasters of support.

The Minister of Communications, Mr. Ekwow Spio Garbrah yesterday assured private broadcasters of the continued support of his ministry in their endeavours. Mr Spio Garbrah who was delivering the keynote address at the launching of the Association of Private Broadcasting Companies (APBC) yesterday however expressed concern about the way callers to live programs are made to contribute without any form of control.

He said just as a newspaper editor exercises control over his paper by editing letters to make sure they do not contravene the laws of the country, broadcasting companies should be able to control material being broadcast on air to enable them achieve the same purpose.

The Association of Private Broadcasting Companies which is an organisation of all private companies involved in broadcasting both audio and video format all over the country has over 22 members with Alhaji Rashid Iddi as President.
