EC Chair’s continuous stay in office, a threat to Ghana’s democracy – Bukarson

The Executive Director of The Press Foundation, TPF, Mr. Listowell Yesu Bukarson has described the continuous stay in office of the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, EC, Madam Charlotte Osei as a “serious threat to Ghana’s democracy”.

Madam Osei has lately come under a barrage of accusations from her deputies and some staff of the Commission, some of whom have petitioned the President for her removal from office.

Even though the EC Boss has denied the accusations and counter-accused her accusers including her two deputies, Mr. Bukarson believes she has “lost her place in office”.

“The unfortunate developments that have bedevilled Madam Osei have damaged her credibility greatly” He argued.

“Regardless of how the would-be investigations will pan out, her credibility has greatly been shattered beyond repairs for such a sensitive state institution” The former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalist Association added.

“In her own interest and for the sake of the bigger Ghanaian interest, I beseech Madam Osei to resign, to at least save her image and also save the nation from further controversies in any future elections” Mr. Bukarson added.
