Awutu Bawjiase (C/R), May 25, GNA – A survey by the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District office of the Commission on Human Right and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) has revealed that 15 primary schools in the district do not have adequate facilitates to enhance teaching and learning.
The schools include Kofiansakrom, Jei-Krodua, Bontrase Salmaniya, Odupong Kpehe, Mayenda, Akrabong and Senya Salvation primary schools.
According to the study, the lack of classrooms, good drinking water, toilets and furniture and other facilities affect the performance of pupils in these schools.
Mr Richmond Mensah, District Director of the Commission, who disclosed these in an interview with GNA at Awutu Bawjiase on Sunday, appealed to individuals, non-governmental organisations and other stakeholders in education, to help provide infrastructure and improve existing facilities at educational institutions in the area.
He said pupils at Bontrase Salmaniya and Kwao Larbie schools for instance study under shed made of sticks and roofed with palm fronts. Mr Mensah also said pupils of schools without toilet facilities go to toilet at nearby bushes thereby polluting the environment and exposing pupils to the risk of snake bite.
He said the school at Kofiansakrom has no office and store affecting administrative work.
