IGP Promotes Four Police Officers for Stopping Murder Suspects’ Escape

Four police officers from Ghana’s Western Central Regional Command have been promoted for their exceptional diligence and professionalism after arresting three suspects linked to a high-profile murder case.

The officers; Fetus Gameli Kukuia, Christian Asare, Nicholas Kingsley Amoah, and Adam Yakubu, intercepted and arrested the suspects on 30 April 2025, a day after five people were brutally murdered at Asiyaw, near Nsawam.

According to police sources, the suspects, Hakeem Imoro, Imoro Tahiru, and Nurideen Wahab, were attempting to flee the region when the officers stopped their Grand Bird bus at the Bawdie Barrier near Wassa Akropong. A search of the bus revealed a submachine gun and 21 rounds of ammunition concealed with one of the suspects.

Further interrogation led to a breakthrough. The firearm was allegedly handed over by a man identified as Samuel Atsu Forson, alias Alanyo, who was already in custody in connection with the Asiyaw murders.

Following their swift action and investigative work, the Ghana Police Service has promoted the officers for their role in capturing the fugitives and strengthening the murder investigation.

The promotions are as follows: Sergeant Fetus Gameli Kukuia has been promoted to Inspector, Corporals Christian Asare and Nicholas Kingsley Amoah have been promoted to Sergeants, and Constable Adam Yakubu has been elevated to the rank of Lance Corporal.

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, praised the officers for their dedication. Speaking on behalf of the Police Management Board (POMAB), he said the promotions are meant to encourage similar commitment across the service.

“This is a reminder that excellence in service and a strong sense of duty will always be recognised,” the IGP stated.

The Ghana Police Service reiterated its resolve to fight crime across all regions and called on the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement for a safer Ghana.
