Teacher, 24, arrested for slave trading

A 24-year-old teacher has been arrested by the Ayamfuri Police on suspicion of slave trading an 18-year-old student.

The suspect, William Otoo was arrested on Thursday, July 20, at Ayamfuri following a tip off by an informant.

The victim, Serlormey Aidoo is a student at the Sefwi Abodum M/A JHS, where the suspect also teaches.

Speaking to Empire News’ Emmanuel Ohene-Gyan, Sewfi-Wiaso District Police Commander Supt. Abrokwa Oduro disclosed that the teacher departed Sefwi Aboduam on Wednesday July 19, with the victim around 9 am.

It is believed the suspect had attempted to sell the victim for an amount of Two hundred and fifty Thousand Ghana cedis.

Otoo is currently in police custody as investigations into the matter continue.
